Speaker's Biography:
Alan Mendelson
Partner, Corporate Department, Latham & Watkins LLP
Alan Mendelson is a senior partner with Latham & Watkins, LLP and co-chair of the firm′s Venture and Technology Group. He is also a member of the firm′s Chairs Committee. Mendelson joined the firm in May 2000, bringing a wealth of practice and management experience in the areas of corporate and securities law. His practice is primarily targeted toward emerging and public growth companies, with strong emphasis on companies in the life sciences industry. Mendelson serves as the corporate secretary for many public and private biotechnology companies and has been counsel to Amgen since its inception. In the public offering arena, Mendelson has been counsel to a number of investment banks in offerings for biotechnology companies, including Lehman Brothers, Morgan Stanley, Hambrecht & Quist, Merrill Lynch, Montgomery Securities, Robertson, Stephens & Co. and SG Cowen. As company counsel he has handled public offerings for such notable biotech companies as Amgen, Aviron, Arris Pharmaceuticals, Cortech, CoCensys, CV Therapeutics, Dendreon, InterMune Pharmaceuticals, Isis Pharmaceuticals, NPS Pharmaceuticals, RiboGene and Megabios. Mendelson earned his J.D. cum laude at Harvard University.
