Douglas Holtz-Eakin
Director, Maurice R. Greenberg Center, Geoeconomic Studies and Paul A. Volcker Chair in International Economics, Council on Foreign Relations; former Director, Congressional Budget Office
Douglas Holtz-Eakin is Director of the Maurice R. Greenberg Center for Geoeconomic Studies and the Paul A. Volcker Chair in International Economics at the Council on Foreign Relations. He most recently served as director of the Congressional Budget Office (CBO)and, before that, as chief economist for the President's Council of Economic Advisers, where he also held the position of senior staff economist. Holtz-Eakin also served as the CBO's representative on the Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board. At Syracuse University, Holtz-Eakin was a Trustee Professor of Economics at the Maxwell School, chairman of the department of economics and associate director of the Center for Policy Research. In addition, he edited the National Tax Journal, served as associate editor of the Journal of Human Resources and was a member of the editorial board for Public Budgeting & Finance, Journal of Sports Economics and Public Works Management and Policy. He earned a bachelor's degree in economics and mathematics at Denison University and a Ph.D. in economics at Princeton University.
