Samuel Klein

Samuel Klein is the William H. Danforth Professor of Medicine and Director of the Center for Human Nutrition at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He is also Director of the medical school's Weight Management Center and Associate Program Director of the General Clinical Research Center. He is a former president of the North American Association for the Study of Obesity and the American Society for Clinical Nutrition, as well as former chairman of the Integrative Physiology of Obesity and Diabetes study section. Klein serves as associate editor of Gastroenterology and is a member of the editorial board of the American Journal of Physiology-Endocrinology & Metabolism. Klein′s research activities involve the use of stable isotope tracers to study the regulation of substrate metabolism in humans in vivo; his laboratory is particularly interested in the pathophysiology of lipid metabolism in obesity. Klein earned a master's degree in nutritional biochemistry and metabolism from MIT and an M.D. at Temple University Medical School.
