Barry Eichengreen
George C. Pardee and Helen N. Pardee Professor of Economics and Political Science, University of California, Berkeley
Barry Eichengreen is the George C. Pardee and Helen N. Pardee Professor of Economics, as well as Professor of Political Science, at the University of California, Berkeley. He is also a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research (Cambridge, Mass.) and research fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (London). In 1997-1998, he was senior policy advisor at the International Monetary Fund. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the convener of the Bellagio Group of academics and economic officials. He has held Guggenheim and Fulbright fellowships and has been a fellow of the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences (Stanford, California) and the Institute for Advanced Study in Berlin. Eichengreen has published widely on the international monetary and financial system; his books include The European Economy Since 1945 (2006) and Global Imbalances: The Lessons of Bretton Woods (2006). He received a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and three master's degrees and a Ph.D. from Yale University.
