Antoine Halff
Deputy Head of Research and Head of Commodities Research, Newedge
Antoine Halff is Deputy Head of Research and Head of Commodities Research at Newedge, the joint-venture brokerage unit of Société Générale and Calyon. He joined Fimat, one of Newedge's predecessor companies, in early 2006. Halff is also an adjunct professor of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University's Center for Energy, Marine Transportation and Public Policy. In 2005, he launched the energy practice of Eurasia Group, a New York-based political-risk research and consultancy firm. From 2000 to 2005, he was a senior analyst in the International Energy Agency's Oil Industry and Markets Division. He is a frequent speaker on energy and security issues, and his analyses are often cited in the media. Earlier, he worked as a reporter for the Dow Jones Energy News Service and the Energy Intelligence Group, serving as EIG New York bureau chief in 2000. He received an advanced degree from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris and was a visiting scholar at Columbia University.
